Masytron · Numiverse tells a fantasy story in order to talk about real things. Each number from 0 to 9 is a human quality, and every person carries all of them, but in an order no one else has. The question that runs through the book is simple and difficult at once: what do your ten numbers say about you?
Masy doesn’t give speeches. He tells stories, listens, lets himself be interrupted with questions and almost never explains more than he needs to. His teachings are the heart of the book, and the characters’ journey is what carries the reader from one to the next.
Nor is the order of the chapters a matter of style. In the Numiverse, two Walkers move forward together when they share a number in the same position, and that meeting is called Resonance. No one knows in advance whom they will resonate with. The book follows them in the order they arrive: chance is the structure.
The collection divides Book One into three stages, read in order: the arrival, the teachings and the paths. Each chapter opens with a full-page plate, in a warm, cinematic style of illustration, with the golden light of the Zero as the common thread. It is a book for any age: to read alone, in silence, or aloud beside a child.
